Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also means he has won 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

He rescued four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
